WATCH D.O.G.S.® is the safe school initiative of the National Center for Fathering that was founded by Jim Moore, a concerned father who chose to take action in response to a 1998 middle-school shooting in Jonesboro, AR. Moore wanted to help prevent violence from occurring at his children’s school or at any school.
At Adams, we are celebrating our 3rd year of the watch D.O.G.S. program. McGruff House is a temporary haven for children who find themselves in a frightening or dangerous situation. A McGruff House in the neighborhood shows someone is looking out for the children.
The McGruff House Program is a local partnership among law enforcement, schools, and community groups. The program can also be supported by a McGruff House state program. The National McGruff House Network operates the nationwide program, overseen by the National Crime Prevention Council and the U.S. Department of Justice.

A Book Fair is far more than a book sale, it’s an experience where kids get to choose the books they want and love to read. Scholastic Book Fairs provide books and family activities to Adams Elementary that are focused on books and reading. By supporting Scholastic Book Fairs, you are equipping, not only your child, but your school as well.

International Walk to School day gives children, parents, school teachers and community leaders an opportunity to be part of a global event as they celebrate the many benefits of walking. Millions of walkers from around the world will walk to school together for various reasons – all hoping to create communities that are safe places to walk. Since 1994, millions of dollars have been raised in pennies and other spare change by more than 10 million elementary, middle and high school students throughout the country. The funds, collected during a three-week period, benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Everyone who participates is a winner! Adams students collect pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters during the Pennies for Patients campaigns benefiting the Society. The class collecting the most change in each school receives a pizza party. This very beneficial program is chaired by . |

The Washington Congress of Parents and Teachers (the Washington State PTA), a branch of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers (the National PTA), was founded in 1905. The Washington State PTA is a nonprofit, membership association which seeks to bring together the home, school and community on behalf of all children and youth. Washington State PTA includes all people without regard to differences in race, culture, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, gender, abilities, special needs or geographic location. The Washington State PTA is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of four statewide officers, 13 region directors, a leadership director, a program director, and a legislative director. The board governs the affairs of the State PTA, as well as provides leadership training and education to local PTA units and councils. The Washington State PTA is chartered by and affiliated with the National PTA. |

The National Parent Teacher Association Membership is open to anyone who believes in the Mission and Purposes of National Parent Teacher Association. Individual members may belong to any number of PTAs and pay dues in each. Every person who joins a local PTA automatically becomes a member of both the state and National PTAs. Together we are a powerful voice for children. With your help, we can continue to work toward PTA's goal of a quality education and nurturing environment for every child. |

By purchasing a pre-paid popcorn card for your student, you are supporting a program that allows school supplies to be placed on every student’s desk at Adams Elementary.
